the food at Long John Silvers or Burger King, or Jack in the Box? Do people just naturally think food is good if it costs a lot of money?

I agree with you, all these overpriced food places are just what it is, overpriced. The food usually sucks and it is overrated!

Sometimes when the food in a restaurant is not as good, they will try to make up for it in another way, eg giving good service or creating a nicer/ posh ambience. However, the nicest food I can find are sometimes tuck away in a corner, crowded, not very clean environment but they serve delicious food that are well-worth the price. Maybe you do not know what I am talking about but if you drop by Singapore, you will realize that a lot of food stalls that are along the streets and look run-down serve very good and delicious food.

Yes, it's all in the mentality - when something is expensive, it must be good. However, there are also really good restaurants serve pricey but good food. Hope you find one.

it isn't just all about the food. it is about the entire experience. dining out. being waited on. dessert! don't forget the dessert. i mean i personally think that jack in the box has the BEST strawberry shakes but...... at a nice sit down restaurant they have this whole tray of desserts. and if you are on a first date what would you think of your date if they decided to take you to jacks instead of a restaurant? need i say more?

You pay more for the experience and the service. You might want to bring your Whopper to the fancy restaurant next time!

Over rated, over priced, and you feel more comfortable at the fast food places.
