I sometimes hear that getting a tattoo (even if it isn't an ugly, common dragon or chinese writing) is something the lower class does. Do you consider it lower class or a sign of a lower quality of person?

My husband and I are mid to high class, and while my answer is yes, I have to elaborate-- My husband decided after several years to get 3 tattoos. One is a large tribal 1/2 sleeve and another is a tribal armband, and my name across his chest.

I always said "NO!" when we discussed him getting these, and he let it go for a long time, now that he has them, I love them and they are a complete turn on for me. However, He does not nor do I want him to recieve any more ink. He can hide these when needed, and they are tastefully done and of very high quality.

However, when you are "covered" or a woman has even just one, I think that is very tacky. And so does he. Its just personal opinion.

I consider tattoos lower class if they are distasteful or a "jail house/home made type" tattoo. It also depends what class of people your around. If you live in a trailer park and go to biker bars, you can have any kind of tattoo and not be viewed as lower class. If you went to a fancy $500 a plate dinner for a benefit and had visible tattoo's on your face and neck, you would be considered lower class. It's best to never get tattoo's on your face, head, or neck.

Yes, it is still considered lower class to have a tattoo by those in my life circles.

Tattoos are permanent. Therefore, those persons who value themselves more highly do not wish to be "stuck with" that mark for life. Many believe it is a sign of inadequacies manifested in getting a tattoo to follow the present fad. People who think more highly of themselves are more stable and confident and have neither the need or the desire to be "like everybody else". They realize there is no such thing as "like everybody else". There will always be many who do not simply follow blindly along after the crowd.

i dont think its got anything to do with the class of people as it does peer pressure.as you all know you hardly see any body that dont have one now.as for men i think if the are done right its ok if he wonts it.as for women its a different story.when i see a beautiful women pass me and then i notice all them ugly tattoos all over her body like you see now,its disgracful to me.i imagine that her pride and self respect is very, very, low to think she needs trash like that on her body.you would expect to see it on a men,but never on a women.them tattoos on there lower backs are only there to get men to look at there buts anyhow.if they cant get a men to notice them without tattoos, then they dont need to be noticed.

I dont, but my mother does. I think overall that idea is starting to fade away, but there are still people who cling on to it.
