File your lawsuit and get every dam dime and dollar that the Court will award you!

You will have to have the D.M. back up your story though!

Good Luck!

Bernadette Soubirous, St. Bernadette of Lourdes father was arrested and imprisoned for the theft of a board from the side of the road. The prosecution could not find the owner of the plank put prosecuted him anyway.

Many, a fair number of prosecutors a rabid like dogs and will prosecute an innocent person if they thought they could win a conviction.

But I think you have nothing to worry about. Besides you have the stuff to give back. I think most US laws require the land lord to hold the belongings for some period of time. If you were advised to through out the stuff I think you are safe.

I think you are in the right. Most of the times, if an apartment, house, or storage unit is abandoned, after 30 days everything left behind becomes the property of the company, as a sort of payment for the abandonment. I would try contacting an attorney, or ask at your local police station to see if you should return the item in question.
