I have an Acer 5050 running Windows XP sp2 that uses an internal Atheros wireless card. When my computer first boots up, it starts off loading applications...but then when it gets to the part where the wireless network icon should popup.. the computer stops loading applications for about 30 seconds/one minute, and then all of a sudden starts loading again, starting with the network icon and everything else after.

How can I fix this

Thanks a million

The problem exactly, is that my computer freezes for about 30 secs before connecting to the network. My old laptop did not have this problem....

Did you define "the computer stops loading applications for about 30 seconds" - as the problem? If so, then, it is not actually a problem. The duration of 30 seconds to 1 minute - is usually the time spent when your wireless network tries to connect to your wireless router and with that - it also gets the proper IP address - that is if the router also functions as the DHCP server. There is nothing to fix in this case.

If you have any other issues, please specify all the details in another question, so we can find a fix.

Cheers!
