I'm asking because a number of my friends have told me that they've been blocked, and theyr'e not exactly the most trustworthy friends.

They can try to block your IP, setting a cookie that does not allow you to access the site. But all these options to avoid that you access the site can be easily dumped by you.

Yes you can be blocked.. If you are in a school or library they can block you from going to a page. If you are just on a home pc, some internet website hosts can block by IP (your computers address on the internet)

'certain websites'? What *are* you referring to? ;o)

Such a thing is possible, to a degree. The so called
'blocks' can be based on various criteria. Depends
what it is that your so called untrustworthy friends
are referring to.

If the site is a legal and open one, and you yourself
are unable to access it, maybe they are just having
a joke at your expense?

Incidentally, with 'friends' like that, who need
enemies? Why not get yourself some new ones? ;o)

Absolutely yes. They can block your computer from accessing the site no matter what you do. Every computer has a unique id and they can block you that way.
