Please can you tell me what could happen to a newborn that is in the mother's womb, and the mom fell off the horse and onto the ground. **Note this was in 1944 on a farm in the evening were doctors were far away and so was the hospital. The child was born black and blue everywhere. Parents never took it to the hospital to see if it was o.k.**

So, what injuries and trauma could this newborn have received?

Please no callous remarks or negative input. Thank you.

Sharon, don't be so mean! She had a very violently abusive husband. This child was my father.

Both of them could have died, to be honest. The fact that the baby was just severly bruised is a miracle. It depended on how she landed. If she landed on her back, the baby would have been jostled around, and bruised by bumping into her skeletal structure. If she landed on her stomach, she could have cause damage that may have cause brain trauma, or muscular or skeletal trauma that could cause developmental problems - phyiscally or mentally for the baby.

Well what problems does your Father have today? Obviously he is ok and was able to function normally and have children. Why are you worried about this now.. My grandmother had 12 kids and lived on a farm.. so I know that anything is possible. But this in the past.

The baby could have gotten brain trauma caused by the impact and It also may have been somewhat disconnected from the umbilical cord- causing the baby to lose oxygen.

The baby can be born with problems. That mama should not even be on the horse the first place. But, yes .... be prepared if its born with brain problems or birth defects. She should get checked up.
