First of all, you're 17. Relax. You have time to get to where you want to go. Don't freak out.

Secondly, you've mentioned you want to live in Flagstaff (assuming Arizona), but you can't afford it.. Well you can't afford it because you don't have a job there, that will pay for it? Or that you have a job where you currently live now that you can't leave?

I'm guessing the latter. And I'm also assuming that you live at home. So now, what you need to figure out is: How long would I have to work, to save up enough money to sustain myself in Flagstaff for 4 years?

Can you get any scholarships, bursaries or any kind of financial assistance (other than from your parents) to help pay for your 4-year college degree? If you can't, then your only option is to suck it up, stay at home, save up a bundle of cash (enough to pay for rent at least, for a year or two) before you can even consider moving out. I'd suggest taking on a couple of jobs right now, to really ramp up your savings.

Also you haven't mentioned what it takes to get into ASU or NAU. What kind of requirements do they need you to have? Just a GED? Do they need you to do basic combat training before you go? If they do, you need to start on all the pre-requisite courses before going ahead and applying to ASU or NAU.

How far is ASU or NAU? If you can do a commute of maybe an hour there and hour back, it might be worth it to keep your job, do full-time schooling on top of that, and drive back and forth. It's going to be hell, but it'd be worth it if that is what you want.

Lastly, forget about the car. You can't afford it. Which is more important - a new car, or your 4-year education? If your car breaks down now, you need to go out there, and buy a used car ffor cheap, and take good care of it until THAT one dies. Why? Because you can't afford it.

Basically, you need to save up as much $$$$$$$ as possible, because if you want to move to Flagstaff and go to school full-time (and maybe work part-time to pay for bills), you need to have financial security first, and get all your other ducks in a row (like pre-req courses, training, etc).
