The Awakening by Kate Chopin is a great novel packed with symbolism and a message pertaining to the prejudice held toward women within culture. It is not too long either so you can really take your time to absorb the message of the book (only like 100 pages).

Uncle Tom's Cabin by Harriet Beecher Stowe, So controversial, it sparked the American Civil War.
The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain, so offensive, I can't believe it is a Classic. I had to read this in high school and cringed at almost every page.
SuzyKew70, Roll of Thunder Hear My Cry is excellent. I read that book in middle school. I haven't thought about it in years. It was a very good book and would also be an excellent choice.

Either Roll of Tunder Hear my cry by Mildred D Taylor Or Noughts and Crosses by Malorie Blackman. Roll of Thunder is set in the 1930's and its told by a young black girl,Cassie and her family.
Noughts and Crosses is about a white boy and a black girl in the present day this story is a bit different because the Coloured people are in power and the white people used to be their slaves.
Both brilliant!!!!

If you want to make it "interesting", you might use "Animal Farm" by George Orwell, and exploit (LOL) the example of the pigs prejudice against all the other farm animals. Your English teacher will think you are very clever to have stepped outside the "normal" literature that deals with unfounded hatred of another group of "people"!
Good luck!

Let's see...you've got British social class prejudice, racial prejudice, how about something about religious prejudice? Perhaps the Diary of Anne Frank?

Huckleberry Finn - the greatest American novel, and greatest statement on prejudice.
When I read, 'Huck said, "Well, if it's a sin, then I'll go to hell," and tore it up' - ooooh, I got chills, that is so good.
But make sure your version has Jim's name as "N------ Jim" - otherwise, it loses the effect.
