Dry ice is frozen carbon dioxide gas. It has a temperature of -109.3°F (or -78.5°C). Extremely cold objects should be handled with similar care as extremely hot objects; you can easily get frostbite if you handle it without gloves.

Dry ice is a solid form of carbon dioxide, CO_2. Dry ice can be dangerous if it touches the skin as it is cold enough to kill the flesh and cause "burning."

Dry Ice is solid (frozen) carbon dioxide.
It is dangerous simply because it is so cold (colder than -78C or so) that touching it could give you nearly-instant frostbite.
