By far the easiest way is to walk two minutes to the S-Bahn station Messe Nord (you just have to walk to the big street at ZOB, then to the left till you see a big green sign with an S, for sure everyone knows it), take the S-Bahn which goes clockwise (it's kind of a belt railway around the inner city) and then hop off at S-Bahn station Schönhauser Allee (seven stations after you got in) - voila: There you are, in the heart of Prenzlauer Berg. The trip is about 20 minutes only and you don't have to change as in t_maias route.

Take bus M49 to S+U Bahnhof Zoo. From there go by S-Bahn to
S+U Alexanderplatz Bhf and take Bus TXL in the direction of Mollstr./Prenzlauer Allee.

You can type the adress of your hotel/hostel into the search box. Use "ZOB Funkturm" as your starting point.
