i started driving on my own at 16, and i did just fine. when my daughters are teenagers, i know it sounds crazy, but i want them to start driving as soon as they're legally able to do so. i have absolutely NO desire to play taxi to a bunch of teenagers.

Obviously you do. But statistically 16 year olds are causing the most accidents, so many states have put in a graduated license system, which seems to be working well and keeping people alive. So, yes, at 16 you should be able to drive. With adult supervision, during certain hours, and not with a car full of your 14 year old buddies.

Here in Colorado, the minimum to drive by yourself is 16 but they also say...
"Licensed minors are not allowed to carry a passenger under 21 who is not a family member until they have had a license for at least 6 months.
Licensed minors can not carry more than one passenger under 21 who is not a family member until they have had held a license for at least one year."

America thinks it is ok to drive on your own at that age,
but the again look how bad the young drivers are out there.
I think the age limit should be raise to 18!!!!

i did when i was 16...i didnt do terribly either...but you know what they say...one bad apple spoils the bunch...teens are more likely to get into accidents than experienced drivers...so just be cautious and try really hard not to get distracted
