My Pc when opened shows only black background with XP logo only?

cant escape or turn it off pc at all, anyone?

My pc is a 1030 compact presario 1030nx, with XP.

ok it must be a glitch.

HOLD down the PC's power button (approx 15 secs)

your pc will shut down by doing this, keep it off for 10 seconds and then turn it back on.

that should do it.

When Windows XP starts up it usually shows the XP logo over a black background, so I think that what is happening is normal. If that isn't the case, try calling Microsoft. I had a problem and called and it was fixed easily.

Here is what you do
Riight click you mouse
go to properties
click the desktop tab
choose any picture
select the stretch setting to you right where it is titled position

If this doesn't work open in safe mode by clicking
start button
then run
then typing msconfig
then choose to startup in safe mode
then run your antivirus program
