my laptop has a pioneer dvd burner and many CDs written at 48x or 52x dont read in it (nero and windows both show it as a blank disk), while older disks written at 8 or 16 or 24 x read properly

my drive's maximum read speed (for CDs) is 24x, and write speed (for CDs) too is 24x

the burn speed has nothing to do with readability....however the other drives may not read burned disks...

To answer the question, yes, but it has more to do with the raw burn speed than the read speed itself, meaning if you burn slower it tends to give better results.
Therefore, if the CD burned at 52x doesn't read in a 24x then it also shouldn't read in a 48x, for instance.
You'll have to experiment some, but as a rule slowing down your burns to 16x should give you 99% perfect results, with way fewer CD's turning into coasters.

Hp. Please do not even evaluate a DELL in particular in case you're questioning of procuring for from the information superhighway internet site. Lest in basic terms say I ordered my computing device Sept. 8th and honey until this present day i'm nevertheless waiting for that crap. bypass with the Hp, i'm dying to cancel the order and run to the shop and HUG an HP computing device TIGHTLY.
