Does anyone know a neogeo or turbografx game that is a horizontal side shooter where you can purchase weapons? All I remember is that it was a 1 or 2 player game where you could purchase weapons by entering shops. The only other thing I remember is that you could purchase a weapon such as fire and one of the bosses was a large turtle on fire.

No, I"m pretty sure it's not Wonderboy in monsterland. It's a shooter game (ie gradius) but it's a horizontal shooter. It was a 2 player game were along the way you could enter floating stores and purchase weapon upgrades for your ship.
