I have a Compaq V2000. The only way I could get it to power on was to put a freshly charged battery in it. The charger that goes with thecomputer does not power it. I think it is something wrong with the computer since I have like 6 different chargers that I have tried it with. And since it does not power the computer, it can't recharge the battery. I don't know what the problem is. Does anybody know what the problem could be and even a possible solution to getting it fixed ? Someone please help if you can. It would be greatly appreciated.

I would definitely tell you to go get it checked out...
Nobody can really know for SURE what the problem is, all computers are most likely not going to do the same thing.... but someone with experience should be able to fix it.. who knows.. it might just be a minor problem.
Try Best Buy, or Future Shop, or some electronic place...
Hope the best to you

The usual problem associated with this symptom is a faulty connector where the charger connects to the laptop... Unfortunately, on most laptops the repair is usually a motherboard replacement!

If under warranty, no problem !

If not, it is usually cheaper to replace the machine!

If you are lucky, you MIGHT find someone willing to try an actual REPAIR of the motherboard power connector, but not very likely...

A used motherboard for that machine can be scrounged for a couple hundred$ (if lucky) and then the labor to replace...

Cheaper to buy a replacement laptop, that is new & fresh!!

GOOD LUCK!

GOOD LUCK!

Sounds like the recharging module is bad. You may, repeat may be able to bypass the problem by connecting the power supply directly to the laptop without the battery in it but that is not safe and it kills the idea of portability.

the same thing happened to my laptop so therefore i just ad to simply power on the computer and when it first started to load i started pressing the esc. button a million times then it will bring you up to a boot menu and ask you how you want to start your computer. Then you click on the one that says something like..." reboot comoputer as the way it was before or the way it was last started. Then it will restart and poof! NO more problems! Good luck! :)
