My wireless laptop is not connecting via wireless. It was fine one day and then all of a sudden it seems like there is no wireless installed on the laptop and the sound has disapeared too. Any suggestions as to what could have happened?

Without knowing the make and model we can only guess.

Check that the wireless card and sound have not been inadvertently switched off.
Most laptops have a row of buttons near the screen hinge. If something was caught therein it might have pressed one or more switches.

Also have a go at manual re-connection. Open Start, Connect To and run the wireless network routine.

Last easy suggestion - go back to a recent System Restore point.

Good luck.

The exact thing happened to me the other day with my new laptop and I went crazy!!!!!! I was about to march back to pc world and argue with them. However I played around with my laptop and realized accidentally I switched off the wireless on my computer. Check around on your keyboard for the wireless switch. Mine is a blue attenna on the F1 key; this mean to activate of deactivate I need to press atl+F1 but on yours it may be different. Another option might be goin to the network or connections folder and just pressing connect to wireless network.
Hope this helps, maybe if you can tell me the brand of your laptop I might be able to help you better.
Good Luck

If you have Wi-Fi you probably have a PCMCIA card with a small antennae slotted into a slot on your Laptop which also connects to a base station. Check the base station for a small button (Could be hidden at back) Press it to re-connect to antennae.

Try reversing your computer to an early date... Go to start, point your mouse cursor over All programs and select accessories, then select system tools, then select System restore. Then click the next button. Then to the left, select an earlier date, then click the next button. Continue that and click ok...

Thank you. Message from Dell Tech.
