I posed a dumb question about "trading" Bettman a couple of days ago. Lidstrom#1fan suggested Don Cherry. Who DO hockey fans like better? Bettman or Don Cherry - and why?

I'm canadian so we all love Grapes over here. First and foremost, when Grapes talks hockey, he has passion for the game and you hear it. Bettman lacks that passion in his voice and only seems to care for dollars and cents.

Grapes without a doubt! He may be crazy but at least he loves the game and wouldnt do as much damage as Bettman has. Really him and McLean are more of a dog and pony act (Abbott & Costello if you prefer) but dont be fooled, Cherry knows hockey and has a passion for the way the game should be played. bettman on the other hand try's to tell the fans that games on Versus is better than other deals he could have had....and he said it with a straight face! If his vision for the game of hockey mirrored the fans then that would be one thing but instead he is so hellbent on money at the expense of the game that it is embarrassing for us fans to try to defend him. Cherry would move teams (or at least try) back to Canadien or northern cities at least, it wouldnt surprise anyone if Bettman went even farther south with more teams (Mexico?, Pens in KC?) when contraction would seem more appropriate right now.

I know of Don Cherry, but I know next to nothing about him. That said he'd make a better choice than Bettman

They are both idiots and should have no place in the game. That said, some people from Ontario like Cherry while nobody likes Bettman.

Grapes is a legend in Canada. Most hockey fans spit after mentioning Bettman.

Cherry cares for hockey; Gary "NBA's hired gun" Bettman wants to annihilate the competition to his precious previous (and current undercover, in my opinion) employer. If you don't believe that, you still believe in Santa & the Tooth Fairy.

DON CHERRY!!! cherry is by far better than "buttman". bettman has taken the nhl away and implented some weird new game. cherry is funny, has plenty of knowledge on nhl and his ties are the best!
