he is dating you and not your family members, he is a individual and should be treated like one, the way he dresses is a reflection of who he is, inside and out, if he treats you the way you should be treated and respects you then his way of dressing shouldn't be a issue....

I would say yes and no because she does have a point, not that love means you give up things you love and are passionate about but that if there is something that you do that you know he/she does not like or is bothered by then you should want to change because it is what helps them, and that is what relationship is about, serving your partner. you say it does not bother you so I say tell him that and let him know that it is not that important ( or that it is important, but you will love him no matter what he does).
p.s. you will find that guys are good at having phase's and that it takes a wile for use to grow up ( some of us never really do) remember patients is a virtue.

People can't change people; and if the way he dresses didn't keep you from starting a relationship with him, it shouldn't matter now. If you really love him, you won't ASK him to change - especially since you never had a problem with it.
Besides, your MOTHER isn't DATING him - YOU are.

Anytime someone is forced to change in a relationship, it eventually comes back to haunt you and will normally cause an end to the relationship. He is who he is, your mother should be looking at who he is as a person rather than how he dresses.

Enjoy the fact that he is an individual. My husband dressed very different from my conservative family when we first started dating. He has had to tame his wardrobe some for his job, but I think he misses it!
