I don't mind as long as they aren't using them. I send the phone down to the office if I catch them using it. The office keeps it for 24 hours. The phones sure help the amount of students hanging around after school. Most get right on the phone and parents pick 'em up right after school. For emergencies, and rides they are great. Kids just have to be responsible

Why just Elementary and Middle? They shouldn't be allowed in High school CLASSES either. If you need to be contacted during school hours, the government has provided each school with these amazing people called secretaries. Check it out- Your parents have some sort of emergency in which they need to reach you at school. They call the school and talk to the secretary. The secretary then TRANSFERS the call to the classroom (crazy, right?). The teacher answers the phone and relays the message to the student. Who else needs to call you during class? I know, I know, what if the student needs to make a call? The teachers can actually make the phone in the room get an outside line!!
I guess I have a huge problem with interrupting instructional time to make phone calls that can wait until after class, especially when parents complain that we don't do enough as it is. I had a 9 year old LEAVE SCHOOL EARLY this week to get a cell phone activated. Seriously, who is she going to call that she can't use her home phone?

I basically conceal my cellular under the table, some instructors see it and say something yet others basically ignore approximately it. almost anybody at school makes use of this methodology and ver infrequently get caught. i've got on no account been caught i think of that permitting telephones in training could be basically undeniable stupid cos it rather is extremely distracting. i'm a student and that i hate having to conceal my telephone yet I could desire to confess that i would be unable to hearken to the instructor and textual content cloth on the comparable time, it fairly is rather stressful and that i do get at the back of i think of it fairly is going to no longer be allowed for my sake and for the lecturers - they could get very annoyed and be moody each and all the time. :( no longer good :L Im 14 and that i'm no longer a instructors puppy or something yet i'm additionally no longer a real insurrection, basically favourite :) so i do no longer think of it fairly is going to be allowed - basically conceal your telephone :) it fairly is what anybody else does :L desire this enables :) sorry i do no longer trust you:L

I believe cell phones should be allowed in schools. For emergency purposes only. However, they should be turned off during class, and only used during appropriate times.

No. Not even in high school. You go to school to learn, not talk or text. Leave the phone at home.

Only if it is for emergencies and if the student keeps the vibrate ringtone on. And if they student keeps the cellphone locked up somewhere safe, like their locker or ask the teacher to hold it for them.

Its good to have em in my opinion...but turned off..because there can be emergencies sometimes where a school phone isn't reachable...but I would specifically use it for Emergencies only..so I'd say have em...but turn them off....
