dont worry you wont suck at first trust me.... you'll work on the endurance as the season goes on.... since you like jumping i suggest buying flats with spikes you dont need speacial jumping ones pick a pair that you can use for running events too. For high jump just remember 4 things run in a diagonal direction, jump, THEN turn around and kick up your feet....for long jump you take accurate marks and take a coupl of marks (ask you coach for help to do this) remember when you sprint down the runway instead of sprinting 100% run like 97% so you have controll over your jumping.... when you jump aim for height and not distance pretend you do a layup.

also every one has a jumping foot which means its the foot that feels most comfortable to jump off... how you figure this out is run towards a basketball hoop and do a lay up which ever foot you jump off off is your foot

hope this helps

You probably don't really need spikes for the jumping events. If you do, get the real short (like 1/4in) ones. Probably jumping rope and side straddle bench jumping are the best exercises to build up your quads and calves.

The training will come from your coach. he or she is an expert on that sort of thing. Don't buy spikes immediately. Your coach will tell you when you need them. Just try to do your best and be sure to have fun. That is really what sports are all about, FUN.
