History shows that immigrants do in fact assimilate by 2nd generation and introduce rich cultural diveristy to the society. The non-assimilation examples cited by others who answered your questions are in fact incorrect (i.e. Quebec, becasue the French-Canadians were already living there for generations and did not immigrate into an English-speaking culture). Los Angeles is an awesome city to live in with tons of cultural diversity, as showcased by Little Saigon, Chinatown, Olvera Street, Little Tokyo, where you can get excellent authentic ethic food. In addition, immigrants open small business that pay tax and contribute to the society in general. Immigrants who come to America bring with them vitality and industry and a desire to succeed. The mainstream American culture absorbed much from immigrants, especially the recent waves of immigrants. Again, those examples of non-assimilation given are complete erroneous and the people who gave these examples are either biggots or uneducated.
