At times, the networks and print news seems to be pre occupied with Israel, the Palestinians, the Saudis, the Iranians. If we are going to spend time covering international news, I would like to know more about our neighbors Canada, Mexico and Caribeanan or our trading partners Europe, Japan, South Korea and China. News junkies...DO WE SPEND TOO MUCH TIME ON THE MIDDLE EAST?

Somehow the term "news" has come to mean bad news, usually focusing on the worst news available -- currently the Middle East. I can't say I would like to see less coverage of the Middle East but I would like to see more coverage of the places you mentioned plus I would like to see more positive news, whether local or abroad -- not just the fluff pieces put out there for the occasional smile. Possibly the broadcasting companies could use one or two nights a week to focus on other parts of the world -- good and bad.

No. We have a President who has declared war on Islamic extremism. The journalists have a duty to cover it.
Sometimes the coverage is too repetitive, though. They don't need to just repeat the same things over and over again. In my opinion, more journalists are needed in the mideast to get more different stories so that the airtime spent on the mideast could have more variety.
As far as Europe, Canada, Mexico and Asia, I agree that these places should get more airtime. But too free up that time, I would scale back the Anna Nicole coverage, which is moronic, and not scale back mideast coverage.

Honestly our money, trade and other things are in the middle east and I want to know and see all that is going on. If something we need to know about is going on in Canada I expect to hear that on the media wire also... but at this time we need to keep our attention on matters at hand now..
