If you take a pregnancy test a week after missing your period and it is negative, would that be totally accurate? I have to wait to get into the doctor, but im 8 days late, and getting negative results, though no usual PMS symptoms to think im just late. Shall I chalk this up to a missed period, or test again in a few days? I dont know if the hormone should already be built up in my system at this point or not. Thanks for answers, I find all this pregnancy stuff very interesting, even if my negative is true this time!

Sometimes it takes longer for some women than for others. I would try getting a blood test by a doctor done if your period doesn't come within the next few days... Blood tests are much more reliable.

Best of luck

Truly negative. Home pregnancy tests are do sensitive these day you can get an answer 2 days after a missed period. It could be as simple as stress. If you're over 21, have a couple of drinks. It's worked for me!

Its still possible to be pregnant..With my first 2 kids i was 3 months along and was still getting a negative on the pregnancy test and i took 3 different ones both pregnancies. I went to the doctor for them to tell me that they just don't work for some women. Try a blood test before you give up on the idea.

I had to take three test before I knew it was positive. If the line is VERY faint that is considered positive. Try taking the test in the middle of the night (3am), because then it would have enough HCG for a positive reading. That is what I had to do. Any other time of the day the line was so faint I never could tell.

i would say you are truly negative. I had a positive result 5 days before my missed period. The amount of HCG should be detected in your body by now.

My guess is that you're not pregnant. Maybe you didn't ovulate this month and that's why you skipped the period? I agree with the previous posters, you should probably see a doctor just to make sure everything is ok.

Good luck!

I would seriously go to the Dr. if at all positive, pregnancy tests can throw false positives, and false negatives. You have to be sure.
