I was 34 and my husband was 48 when we had our first child (we're expecting our second right now). Our daughter is perfectly healthy, bright and beautiful.
Good luck!
ETA: It took us just four months to get pregnant with our daughter, one encounter to get pregnant the second time (we lost the baby to miscarriage... it was my sixth pregnancy and the loss has nothing to do with my husband's age) and only two months to get pregnant this time around. It could take a while to get pregnant at any age, it won't necessarily take longer because the man is older.

I hope he begs you to do this and marry you too. Nothing wrong with your age if you are a healthy woman and man. Good thing to be with a mature man and you are close to 30 years old. You need to sit down have a serious talk. If a man wanted me to have a baby i would not want to work for 1-2 years, breast feed (if your milk is good) and teach my child how to use the putty myself. Can this man afford to do this? Or you just want to get pregnant and give the baby to the nanny (grand mom) NO NO. NO. Oh, a man that keeps himself up can have babies as long as that seed comes. Older than 46. Women have the most problems waiting to long.

Men can pretty much keep having babies for their entire lives. Unlike women, they make sperm on a regular basis, whereas we are born with a set number of eggs that expire over time. I wouldn't worry about his age.
I would worry, however, about your question. Instead of "considering having a child", don't you think the first item for discussion should be "considering marrying a 46 year old man" and then "considering having a child?". Just my two cents worth.

If you love this man and want to have a child with him then age shouldn't matter. There shoudln't be any kind of health risks because you will be the one pregnant. You can talk to a doctor about it if you are really concerned about it but I don't see anything wrong because you are the younger one and you would be carrying the baby.

Well, contrary to popular belief, men have a time-limit just like women...only we have a little extra shelf life, if you know what I mean.
I was 46 when my wife (36) and I had our first child.
He is a normal, healthy, happy and sassy five-year old now.
My only concern here is the age difference between you two and whether this is just a sex thing or are you guys going to be married?
Whatever your decision, think about the baby's' needs - all statistics show that children have a better chance at a normal, healthy lifestyle with TWO parents in the household.

sperm do age but not in the way our eggs so ... I'm sure he's still young enough to make good ones(Babies).... Strom Thurmond had babies in 70's and so did Tony Randal and they were just fine... Will he have the energy to chase after a child when he's almost 60 is the real question...Just make sure he eats healthy and doesn't smoke or drink to excess both of these can affect sperm negatively.

Go for it girl. My hubby is 50, I am 30 and we are preggo with #2 together. Our first, he was 47, and our daughter was perfectly healthy. Dr's are more concerned when the mother is over 35. Men can continue ot have kids as long as they can get it up!

Man would always be able to be conceive regardless of health problem as long as he is good shape. Even though he is not in good shape, he should be able to conceive. He is not that old. My dad is 56 and still having babies
