This isnt about championships or stats, just pure arm strength, ie. highest velocity, longest long ball, etc.
This is timely because Jemarcus Russell of LSU could easily make this list.
My list.
1. John Elway: The standard by which all measured. Coming out of Stanford, Elway threw bullets 60 yards on the run, had unlimited range on the deep ball and mangled his receivers' hands on medium routes.
2. Steve Bartkowski: In the late 1970s at Cal, Bartkowski famously threw the ball 100 yards.
3. Doug Williams: Nobody threw a prettier deep ball.
4. Brett Favre: In the mid-1990s, this guy moved and fired and could hit any point on the field. Just like Elway, minus a few miles per hour on the fastball.
5. Michael Vick: Tough call. On some throws, he looks like a lefthanded Elway, with unrivaled velocity and distance. But often his passes flutter. Small hands and an inconsistent release point, when it all clicks he can gun it.
Others worth mention: R Cunningham, J George, D Bledso

I have to agree on some of those names. I'd go like this...

1. Jeff George - clearly the top do on arm strength only.
2. Brett Favre
3. Dan Marino could be interchanged with Elway.
4. John Elway
5. Peyton Manning - anyone else get the feeling he's never used all of his "laser rocket arm"...that's a scary thought.

5b. (based on speculation) Jay Cutler....yet to see what this cat can do, but there were some absolute bullets launched out of this kid last year.

Randell Cunningham (during one of those NFL TV contest specials there was a segment whereby the QB's had a distance throwing event. Cunningham threw a football on the fly 85 yards in the air. He beat everyone else by a long distance.)
John Elway
Terry Bradshaw
Brett Favre
Dan Marino

Those are all pretty recent guys. I remember when the Bears had Bobby Douglas. He was a running QB who, when he threw, threw bullets that his receivers had a hard time holding on to. I think he split open the hand of one of his receivers, once.

NO VICK. Throw Carson Palmer in there and then it'll be right. he can through more accurate and farther than anyone in the league, including peyton, watch what Palmer will do when he has the years in the league that manning has. He'll rewrite the record books!!
