What do people think of the name Susie in any of it's variants?(Suzie, Susy, Suzy, Soozy, etc.) My best friend definitely likes Suzie but also wants a nice middle name to go with it too- any suggestions?? Thanks :)

Little girls are rarely named just Susie (however it is spelled) but generally have a more formal first name such as Susan or Suzanne while using the diminitive as a nickname. Inevitably, if the baby is actually named Susie, she will be called Susie Q regardless of her given middle name. If your friend is serious about naming her baby Suzie, she will need to use a middle name which does not begin with an ee sound (such as Suzie Elayne, for instance), because the first and middle names will run together. She might consider using a hyphenated name like Suzie-Lynn, so that there will be no possiblility of the Suzie Q problem. Other hyphenated options could be: Suzie-Joy, Suzie-Mae. Nonhyphenated choices that I think are pretty are Suzie Ashlyn, Suzie Lenore, Suzie Marie, and Suzie Jeanne. Another suggestion which she might consider is a hyphenated first name with an added middle name: Suzie-Lynn Diana. Consulting a baby name book is an excellent method for discovering unusual and pretty names. I wish your friend happy hunting for the perfect name for her child! (I have a sister whom my other sister and I named when she was born, and she is named Susan Jane; we've always simply called her Susan -- my name choice -- although her friends have called her Sue and Susie; our grandfather called Suze!)
