spyware is the scurge of the internet,10 years ago it wasnt heard of,but with the uprise in broadband internet and a allways on connection, this has given spyware a ideal breeding ground
spyware comes in differnet forms, adware is advertising that comes in a intrusive form such as pop ups ,and also in free security software that apparently cleans your p.c but then holds you to ransom until you buy their product
spyware itself is as its called,it spys on your internet browsing, and can steal your private information such as bank details and ni number
keylogging is similar to spyware, hackers use readily avalible software to log your key strokes and get your info including passwords and private info
one way round keylogging is to not enter a password, keep it on a usb key and insert it any time you need it,and also keep your private info on a external source such as a dvd or again a usb key
removal of spyware and adware is quite easy, there are some good programs avalible free and paid for
spybot(http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/index.html)is a excellent program and very easy to use,it protects as well as cleaning your p.c from spyware(10/10)
a.v.g anti-spyware(http://free.grisoft.com/doc/1)is another excellent program and again this is free, combined with spybot this should wipe up any spyware that spybot failed to identify
finally windows defender(http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=435BFCE7-DA2B-4A6A-AFA4-F7F14E605A0D&displaylang=en)scans automatically every day,but is a excellent addition to your security arsenal, and has a excellent clean up rate
i hope this has helped
good luck

You probably have a rogue anti-spyware program. What is the name of the program that it is asking you to download?
Rogue anti-spyware programs are constantly changing and, therefore, difficult to remove. Your spyware package might not have the latest definitions to remove what has infected your computer. Try to use a couple of free spyware programs because it often the case that one program can remove what the another is not capable of. You can run a scan on http://www.spywareremove.com/remove-Spyware/index.html to see whether anything harmful shows up.

Get a Firewall and anti-virus installed - then disinfect the PC.

Also - NEVER click on links in eMails, NEVER 'run' eMail attachments.

.. and it's a good idea to use Firefox with the Java Scripts turned off when visiting 'unknown' Web sites ...

Go to http://www.mbusbyuk.info/links.html and scroll down the page to free online virus & spyware scans.
Select Panda from the free virus scanners.
When you get to the site, click on Scan My Computer.
When it asks you to select which part of your computer to scan, click on My Computer.
This should fix your problem.
Good Luck.
