A lot, but the leather is a byproduct of slaughtering them for meat. So even if they used something else, it wouldn't affect how many cows are killed.

I heard it was pig stomach. Why do you think they call it a "pig skin"? And it only takes one pig per, and they last forever. The only reason they use new balls is because of the novelty of it all.

does it really matter since they are bred to be killed anyway. besides they will kill them for steak so they should go ahead and use the leather
