I don't know if they will, but it wouldn't be a wasted pick if they did. I may not be a Buckeyes fan, but Troy Smith is a proven winner and leader, and has a chance to succeed in the NFL despite being undersized.
Drew Brees is only 1/4 of an inch taller than he is, and look where the Saints are by signing him

only if you want to waste the pick. Troy Smith is not an NFL Quarterback.
He was a combined 9/29 in the National Championship game and the Senior Bowl.
Did you watch him at the combine? They had a drill with the receivers running fly patterns, they would run 10 yards and turn back to look for the ball, then adjust to it.
The first one they showed Troy Smith throw was underthrown, the receiver had to stop in his tracks to make the catch. The second one, the receiver had to completely turn back around to catch the ball.
He was chased down from behind by the Florida DL, so he does not have very good speed. He showed no pocket presence either, as he did not know when the pressure was on him. He rolled into defenders on more than one occasion.
He's small - 6'0" if you're lucky.
He'll be available on day 2 of the draft, dont waste a 2nd round pick on him.

As in pass on Troy Smith, yes the Lions will make a good decision, for once.
Rod already has said that Kitna is his guy. I don't think they'll go after any QBs early, unless they go for JaMarcus Russell or Brady Quinn. Troy Smith was a good college QB but so was Mike Vick (and he hasn't done much). I don't expect Smith to be anything special, ever.

I agree with first answer, Troy Smith is not an NFL QB and whoever drafts him will be making a mistake if they want a QB.

I think the Lions make a move for David Carr. I don't think they have the patience to draft a QB and allow him to develop at the cost of two more losing seasons.

Based on his combine performance he'll be luck to be drafted at all. I personally think he will end up in Canada.
