It would be a good idea to first wash the clothes before the baby actually wears them, although I can personally say that if you don't wash the clothes nothing with happen to the baby. Yes baby's skin is sensitive but my son is 3months this Wednesday and there are somethings I did not wash and him and his skin are perfectly good and healthy. So everyone answers are solely opinions, so there are no right or wrong answers. Enjoy the baby I know I'm enjoying mine.
Good Luck (Have Fun)

I was told to wash them first because of the certain chemicals applied to clothes. (Ever wonder how the clothes at Walmart never smell like the fast food restaurant adjacent to them? It's because of those chemicals!) You should always wash your clothes after buying them, but even more so for little babies with sensitive skin. Also, factories where products are made are NEVER completely clean and you never know what the workers are doing when they handle your clothes. I worked temporarily at a perfume factory and we would seal up bottles even if there were bugs in them or if we had dropped binaca bottles on the floor!

Some people say you should also try to use a detergent designed specifically for babies, but I plan on using any hypo-allergenic detergent that is free of dyes and scents. You could also use Purex, which is a cheaper alternative. This is also my first baby and I'm not taking any chances. It is also a good idea to wash the clothes beforehand as it will make them softer.

Congrats and good luck!

Yes even the bedding set and anything else that will touch babies skin.
With my first baby i didn't wash them before hand because i always liked that new clothes smell and look but, this time i've noticed how there's lint and sometimes little stains on the clothes, even new ones. You know how some people buy stuff and then return it.
Use Dreft it's made just for babies and it keeps them from having allergic reactions from other detergents that have perfume in them.

I always wash everything before my kids wear them. You never know what's crawling around the warehouses where the clothes are stored before arriving at the stores! Also, a baby's skin is sensitive and washing them in mild detergent will soften them up and make them more comfortable. Remember not to bleach anything until your baby is 1 year old.

A newborn's skin is VERY sensitive! Yes, you need to wash everything in Dreft or All baby before it touches there skin. That includes all materials on toys, ex. their swing or floor mats and dont forget about the bedding. If the baby is going to share a bed with you, you will need to also wash it in the special soap.

yes, wash them. your baby's skin is going to be very sensitive, and there are chemicals in the clothes to keep them nice in the store and all that. but not only that, think about all the people who have handled the outfits, and everything they've been through! lol. definitely wash them. I did.

i personally washed all my baby clothes before my son wore them. there is a finish that is put on baby clothes to keep them looking new while in the store, this finish can cause irritation to baby's sensitive skin. my advice would be yes, wash them before wearing:)

Yes, it's always a good idea, I did it with my first and I have done with the clothes for my baby due in April.

The clothes can have starch and other substances on them which could harm baby's delicate skin and even cause excema, also, if they are not in packets, people wearing perfume etc... could have touched them, which can also be harmful.

Congrats!

I plan to wash mine. All clothes tend to be sold with stiffeners and chemicals. They'll be softest and cleanest if you can give them a wash beforehand. make sure you wash them with a detergent that's clear of dyes and perfumes and pay attention to the ones that can't go in the dryer. Enjoy the new baby ;)
