I don't think we are at the end of the world but i do think we humans are changing the planet in such a bad way that we are not going to survive on it for much longer...Mother nature has some awesome powered weather to throw at us,look at the south of England ,when they get a few centimetres of snow it comes to a standstill....and look at some of the weather events happening around the world....then there is the theory that when enough fresh water has fallen into the sea the natural warm currents will stop and another ice age will begin..it's getting warmer and warmer and more and more polluted and the truth is that none of us know what is going to happen but i reckon there will be a big event before long that will make mankind realise just how serious a mistake we have all made

I'm always curious as to why people wonder about the end of the world. Unless we make space colonies on other planets, there is absolutely nothing we can do to stop or avoid the end if it should happen. Having said that, I don't believe the end of the world is now. I think the fact that every generation has worried about the state of man and taken bad events as signs of the end just proves that we aren't any closer than they were. I think we are just more obsessive than they were in the past.

So far every age in the Christian world has believed it was the last one, and that the end was nigh.
Now we have a clear idea how long we have been around (say a million years), and how long the solar system has been here (four and a half billion), and how long it is expected to endure (billions more), we can see that we are in fact right smack at the beginning.
Even if we do initiate a mass extinction now, it is likely that enough humans will manage to survive and carry on.

It might be getting close to the end of times, but not the end of the world, since it's a world without end.

this is the first day of my life. swear i was born right in the doorway...
bright eyes are nice. but seriously forks.
this is the end of the world. this is the beginning of the world. this is last tuesday. the point is, don't get caught up in the big things like that. it'll just give you an ulcer. enjoy the music, the wine, the happy happy blue skies. we've only got one life after all. (i'm not being anti religious. it's just an expression) :)

No one know for sure, but if I had to make a bet, I'd say the world will probably end in my lifetime. Stephen Hawking said it himself. He said if we don't colonize either the moon or Mars soon, we're toast. Between global warming, the threat of nuclear war, the possibility of a world-wide pandemic, and the depletion and mismanagement of natural resources, SOMETHING is going to kill us. Could we do something to stop this self-annihilation? Sure we could; but we won't. Who do you think got us into this mess? If we're stupid enough to come this close to killing ourselves, we're too stupid to do what needs to be done in time to stop it.
