1. 2 * 1 * 6 = 12 so you have 12 cu ft to fill. This means approximately 12*7.5 or 90 gallons in 12 cu ft. There are 4*90 = 360 quarts in 90 gallons.

2) B + S = 96
B = 2S
If we substitute for B into eq 1 using eq 2, we get
2S + S = 96 or 3S = 96 or S = 32.
Stacey got 32 votes and Brett got 64.
When we check and put these values back into both equations, we see that this is correct.

1. First figure out how many cubic ft are in the aquarium. Thats 2*1*6 = 12 cubic ft. If it takes 7.5 gallons to fill 1 cubic ft, then it takes 12*7.5 to fill twelve cubic ft. so thats 90 gallons of water.

Now there are 4 quarts in a gallon, so it will take 360 quarts to fill the aquarium.

2. If x is the number of votes Brett received and y is the number of votes Stacy received then x+y=96. Also, if we double stacy's votes, that is equal to Brett's votes, so 2y=x. Now we'll substitute 2y for x in our first equation to get 2y+y=96, so 3y=96, y=96/3=32. And if y is 32 then x=2*32=64.

1. 360 times

4 quarts in a gallon
7.5 gallons in a cubic foot
Aquarium is 12 cubic feet

4 x 7.5 x 12 = 360

2. Stacy received x amount of votes.
Brett got twice as many as her, 2x (two times x)
The total number of votes was 96
Therefore, 2x + x = 96 or 3x = 96
Divide by 3 and x = 32
Brett got 64 votes (2x)
Stacy got 32 votes (x)

you're going approximately this concern the incorrect way. First set the equation equivalent to 0. 0= -X^2+2x+4 (word the neg. image in front of the X^2. This equation won't be able to be factored or "dispensed into paretheses" as you call it so which you would be able to desire to apply the quadratic formula. the quadratic formula incorporates 3 variables... A, B, and C. For this equation you have A= -a million, B=2, C=4. Plug in and remedy for X. X= a million+2?5 /-2 simplify and you have your answer! for sure whatever you do you will not get a ?6 so C is out... and if A is real then what happened to the two earlier the ?5? So A is incorrect additionally... that leaves you with... B. very final answer.

#2 you divide 96 by three which means Brett had 64 and Stacy had 32. Brett had twice as many votes as Stacy.

#1 I don't have that much time to figure out sorry.

2. 96/3 = 32, so stacy got 32.
twice as many is 64, so brett got 64.
64 + 32 = 96

s+2s=96
3s=96
96/3=32
x=32

Stacy = 32
Brett = 64

2ft x 7.5 = 15
1ft x 7.5 = 7.5
6ft x 7.5 = 45

15+7.5+45 = 67.5
67.5x4quarts per gallon = 270 quarts I think!
