Well I wish I could tell you exactly the location of the flasher. How ever, they are usually in the fuse panel. Some are placed Little under the dash, close to the steering column. I may be able to help more later, my on line auto repair program is of line at the moment. .. You may also look at the User manual. they usually show the location of the component. Hope this helps. Will.

Well of course you could do it yourself, only you don't know how. An independent mechanic would be my choice as well, it shouldn't be anywhere near that price.
Ok, I looked it up, it calls for .4 hours and the part is around 30 bucks. So you could expect to pay 60 dollars at the most (assuming $80/hr.)
This is hard to explain unless you have the diagrams to see where it is located, so it's probably best to have a shop do this for you.

It's hard to believe that the dealer charges $220 to replace your directional lights flasher unit. Make sure your information is correct.

you must know a handy guy, because this job will take 2 sizes of wheel pullers, and different size screw drivers , get the wheel off then loosen up and keep track of what your doing, take pictures with cell phone, lots of small parts, under the dash , unplug the cable and use it to pull in the new one, tape it good ,then reassemble in reverse, this is a difficult job , have a bright light set up your need it,in this mechanism there is blinkers bright lights washers and Cruise cont. all so a brake light circuit. good luck this took me a afternoon with help from my buddy.

Stay away from the dealer, go find an independent mechanic, hand him the part and ask him how much to put it in for you. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

its behind the drivers side-panel fuse box at the top. it is hard to get to if you have big hands (lol my problem) but you can do it yourself if you can reach it. if it is a factory relay it will be green in color. reach your hand up under the dash right behind the e-brake release lever, and you should be able to remove and replace the relay. gonna need a flash light and a extra pair of eyes or a mirror (unless you can fit under the dash to see what you are doing).
