I told you not to leave your computer in the Kitchen.

I would suspect SpyWare. You should have an anti-spyware solution on your computer. I recommend that you go to http://www.download.com and get AD-AWARE and SpyBot Search & Destory. Install, run, update and scan your computer with both programs.

These are cleanup tools. Ad-aware cleans files, and SpyBot cleans the registry

Good luck and Happy Computing!

A bunch of extra garbage running in the background will usually do that.

Press CTRL+ALT+DEL and bring up the task manager. Switch to the processes tab, and make a list of everything.

Search for each item online and determine if and how you can remove each item. Some are necessary for windows or other progs to work, some are just junk.

Then download 'adaware personal' from lavasoft.com - update it and run it regularly.

Finally - go into 'my computer' - right click on your hard drive and pick 'tools' run a scan, and then run defrag.

If your computer is still slow you might need to upgrade some of your hardware - or if it is an older machine, you might want to put an older O/S on it for the best results. A lot of people load XP on older machines that shouldn't have anything newer than Win98 on them (and never winME)

It will be the programs that are starting up when windows starts.

Its a pain in the A*** but when you install programs it will ask if you want to add the progrma to the quick lauch task bar (or word to that effect) - the problem is that these wil start every time you start the PC and will slow it down. And these programs will be running in the background while you are doing your normal stuff - and will still slow down your PC

To stop these programs from the startup (AND this is totally reversable)

CLick start > then RUN > TYPE > msconfig

click on the tab for startup > you will get a list with alot of tick on it > click on the button for disable all > then look for your SECURITY PROGRAM (not alot of security program put a program in this list - one exception is NORTON - if you have this > put tick in > ccapp >)

Then ok then close and then restart

This should sort your problem out

firstly, the egg timer is telling you that something is loading...this is probably what is slowing your PC down.
Scan your system and get rid of the shite you don't need or use.
Go to 'www.download.com' and look for 'Tune-up Utilities 2007'
there is a 30 day free trial, download this program and clean up your PC during the free trial, works great.
Good luck.

Usually happens when either Microsoft or a Government Department goes into the computer to see what you have been up to!

Another good anti-spyware program is made by AVG and it's free. Search "AVG free" on Yahoo! or Google. They also make a totally free antivirus program. I stopped buying antivirus and antispyware because these are so good.

Something is hogging your resources. (A program you may not even know you have is probably running int he background) I'd suggest a virus scan, an adaware scan and a spyware scan.
