"Turning Japanese" refers to the Oriental facial features people get at the moment of climax during masturbation.

Has nothing nothing nothing to do with being stoned. It has already been on The Story behind the Music for a long time that it refers to masturbation. Drugs? Nope not this song.

It's NOT a stoner song, it is a song about "bashing the bishop".

The Vapours did this song about being totally hooked on one girl.

Well, some say it's about masterbation. When you are about to orgasm, your eyes squint and you look Japenese. It's probably interpretted as a stoner stong because you eyes sometimes quint when you get high.

Cuz the higher you got the more skint eyed you became until your eyes were nearly closed. You looked Japanese (oriental) as a result.
Was also another theory about this song regarding masterbation but that's a different question. Ah-so.
