im confused -- i read all over the place that a nine month old is supposed to have baby food 3 times a day but that a nine month old is also supposed to have about 24-26 oz a day to support brain growth. my baby cannot drink that much in one day let alone eat AND drink that much.
i guess my question would be... about how many ounces of formula should a nine month old (wasn't a premie) consume daily?

All babies are different, both of my kids had completely different appetites. As long as they are growing properly and eating properly I wouldn't worry too much about going by the book. If you are having a problem however getting your child to eat jarred foods and consume a " required " amount of formula, I would suggest mixing formula with oatmeal atleast for breakfast, that way baby is getting a solid food, and the nourishment of formula in one meal.

If according to the pediatrician, your baby follows the normal growth curve, then don't worry about it. Each baby is different with food/formula consumption. Talk to your pediatrician with your concerns as you would get the pertinent answer. You can both workout a nutrition diet plan if there is a problem.

its more important for the baby to have the milk than it is for the baby to have the baby food so cut down on the food and give more milk. What you read was just an average of what most babies need. each baby is different. If your worried ask you child's doctor.

My baby is 10 months and he drinks about 22 oz of milk per day. He also drinks a little juice & water during the course of the day.
He's healthy & he's thriving-- that's what matters to me:)

If I am not mistaken, it should be about two ounces per pound of body weight. Milk should be the primary source of nutrients for a baby less than 1 year old. Give your baby adequate milk and don't worry if he/she is not taking enough solid.
