(No the "nuclear option" has NOTHING involving nuclear weapon use in Iraq or anywhere else. It was the parlimentary weapon Repukes threatened in the Senate in the last days of their control.)

That's political suicide. If Democrats cut funding for the troops, they're seen as being against them and could so easily be spear-headed as anti-American by the Republicans that they'd stand no chance in 2008.
For fear of losing power, the Democrats just don't have the balls.

The Democrats have taken 20 billion from the war fund. The problem is that he keeps sending troops & we must protect those young people & give them every advantage to remain safe, to cut too much might leave them in danger. The only answer is to bring them home. The President has the power to send troops where ever he wishes & Congress can do nothing to stop him unless they unite & take the power from him, the power that was give to any President to take troops or wage a war without Congressional consent. This power was given to him in 2002 & six months later he used it to take this country into Iraq, for no reason!
Are you suggesting that we use nuclear weapons in Iraq? Not a good idea. Iraq is a country surrounded by countries that we have no beef with, yet. All of those countries would suffer great losses if we were to resort to WMDs. We just need to get our troops out of this Civil War. If we can get them to agree to the new oil proposel; whereby each section would share in the profits from the sale of oil, perhaps they would stop fighting each other. It is really all about oil & everyone wants the oil, including us!

There are a variety of political reasons that would explain why the Democratic Party members in the House and Senate aren't pulling the "nuclear option" card.

For starters, I'm sure the memory of that whole messy business is still on the minds of many voters and I don't think they want to bring it back. Also, they're just coming out from under fourteen years with a Republican Party majority, and the issue of minority representation is fresh enough that that sort of tactic would probably leave a bad taste in the mouth of the public, not their own.

And finally, I think that many people on both sides of the aisle as well as folks in the nation at large are sick to death of the divisive politics and the tactics of using majority power to shut out the minority. We had forty years of it under the Democratic Party, the Republican Party had another fourteen or so, and all in all I for one am sick to death of it. There's enough real and important work for Congress to accomplish without having them waste time and energy on infighting.

It may come to that. But the Democrats are (so far) taking a responsible appproach--they are trying to pressure Bush without using extreme measures--and I think that's a wise approach to start with.

I also don't think its going to work (and I don't think the people in Congressdo either)--but when it does come time for stronger measures, the Democrats and responsible repbulicans will be in a much stronger position for having tried lessdrastic measures first.

Because they would cause them to lose seats across the nation and they do not want that,

however they will pander to you and say they are against the war while b4 they were for it and now they oppose it but will fund it.

Everything they say is a lie that is why I am not a democrat,

also I can't wait til the repeal the tax breaks Bush put in people are going to crap.

For the same reason that the Republicans didn't exercise it when they were in "control".

At some point, they will again become the minority party. And then what are they going to do?
