I spent thirty seven years in politics and was elected three times. it cost taxpayers billions of dollars each election. New machines, workers etc. Since only about fifty percent of the of people will ever vote, let the other half go on line. Just for fun, check with your local elections officials and see how much they paid for their machines.sit down before you call.

I would love this move, voting on line. Yet, people can break your code and vote for you or those that do not vote, or just change the count. This is the one reason i am still against the computer machine voting that does not give you a receipt and coded number so you can check the vote and make sure your vote did not change on the count.

1. Not everybody uses a computer. Since the most consistent turnout of voters is older, AARP types, they would never go for voting online since a lot of them don't know how or want to learn how to use a computer.

2. Fraud. Just look at all the times hackers or crackers have broken into system. Voting online would be succeptible to that.

If we really wanted to streamline voting, we should do it over the phone. Then we could see what number people are voting from (as long as caller ID block is turned off) and require them to prove their identity through a social security number or other means.

Fraud, not private, Computer spyware, faulty firewalls, Malware, IP scanning capability, key loggers, faulty virus protection, so on, so on...
There are a billion reasons. Home computers are not safe enough... Hell we have enough problems with the voting computers now!

Sounds good, but with the mess will all the "hanging chads" and such, you would get whacked out claims that the voting site was hacked, or the software, or program was flawed, it would still get messy I think.

The more efficient the system, the more the losing party will b**** because they didn't win and they can't skewer the votes in their favor.
