I had that problem too. Try using those little pouched that you put into the detergent compartment. Also don't pack the machine full. Finally continue using the jet dry. You only have to put it in there about once a month. I did all of that at once and I'm thinking that I was probably just putting too many dishes in there and in the wrong places.

Are you able to wipe this residue off your dishes? Are you seeing it only on the glasses? I ask because dishwasher detergent will etch glass over a period of time and there is nothing you can do about that, only to get new glasses and wash by hand. Otherwise, the water softener will work miracles...but my glasses still get etched.

I also wanted to know this, I tried the little bowl of vinegar in the dishwasher and well it doesn't work. While house sitting for a friend I found a product called Electosol for the dishwasher and I did her dishes, they came out awesome. I use it and so does my daughter and our glasses come out sparkling no more gray. It might be a bit more expensive, but well worth it.

Use some of your dishwasher soap and let the dishwasher run with nothing inside. Plus add couple tablespoons of vinegar, it's cleans and kills bad smells in the dishwasher.
