It's not, it is just a right wing propaganda tool, they have just been more organized at trying to destroy the other side with their nasty and conniving strategies.
be proud- liberal means compasisonate, family values, working for the people, valuing more than money and greed, allowing diversity, fighting for civil rights for all, so stand up!

When I grew up in the 1970's, a liberal was an open minded person who had a more idealistic view of the world, but the main thing was tolerance of different types of people. Somehow over the last 6 years, liberals have become virtually the opposite. They come across as being very closed minded and intolerant of anyone who doesn't agree with them. Liberals have the reputation of criticizing everything George W. Bush does regardless of how they may feel otherwise.

Liberalism was once a good thing. It was humanitarian. Then, during the late 60's, it all started going downhill. Women's lib, Make love, not war, self indulgent behavior, etc. People began to lose track of logic and reason. They began living their lives for themselves-by the mindset, "if it feels good, do it."
Later on, they began having children and instilling in them the same type of mindset. Liberalism went from being a humanitarian thing where folks are called to be completely selfless to being a self serving thing, indulging in their own pleasures regardless of the consequences to themselves or to others.
Now, we have people who are so far gone from reality that they believe it's ok to crush a baby's skull and suction out her brain simply because a woman doesn't want the baby. To me, that doesn't seem morally justifiable. People who are so far out there, they think the act of murdering 3000 of our fellow Americans on 9-11 was somehow an "inside job." WHY would that be an inside job?
So, there you have it. It was once a good thing to be called a liberal. They were once a lot like Christians. Now, they're more like young children. Liberals only make up 13% of America, thank the Lord.

Is it a bad thing to be White , Asian , European , Middle Eastern , African American or Latin American .
These are some of the people who are liberal .
It is only Bible thumping left wing fanatics that think the rest of the world is evil .
There is nothing wrong with accepting someones choice to be involved in a gay relationship .
Nothing wrong in wanting the environment to remain clean so we do not poison ourselves with cancer's or kill off species that other animals rely on for food or habitat .
Nothing wrong with acknowledging that guns kill people /people kill people but guns sure do make it easy .
Nothing wrong with expecting that the government insures we all get a fair shake and this does not just mean a free education . Many people have learned to read ,write and do math but are lousy people in respect to being able to grasp the big picture .
Currently lower income people are penalized by the current laws .
A rich man can by a case of $5000.00 whiskey but a poor man can not distill a bottle .
A rich man can install a 500 gal. gasoline tank and purchase wholesale a poor man cannot .
The rich never profit on their own but with the hands of hundreds of workers doing their bidding . Laws protect people from competing in many area's and moving ahead . The path is narrow and constrictive . Save part of your earnings and invest carefully with an eye towards the future . That is if your investment councilor does not lose your money or your insurance company looks for ways not to pay .
I do have a problem with rich people not the ones you think of but the rich . People who have a net worth of over 5 million dollars .
I want to go back to the days where we have a 75% tax bracket .
Reason being is that the people making that kind of money are using others to do it .
A really skilled crafts man can make a good income on his own . If he needs a helper to assist and learn the trade then in a few years the helper moves on but until then he is paid rather well to learn his trade .
We all must be trained for our Jobs and no amount of college can prepare you for most Jobs .
Outside of the sciences so you do not mix sulfur charcoal and saltpeter accidentally and harm those around you we have reference books with the information needed to make any number of products .
We are building on the mistakes of others all the time .
And conservatives are stead fast in keeping us living in the 19th century .

Because over many centuries there has been continuous conflict between the rights of the individual and the power of the sovereign. The sovereign first relied on the devine right of kings to rule. Later the excuse was paternalism. The sovereign owned everything that we produced and was good enough to give us what we deserved. First in England and later in America the rights of individuals became supreme. But the fight continues. The sovereign now calls itself government and the king is replaced by bureaucrats who think of themselves as good people looking out for we poor individuals who do not appreciate all the good they do for us, providing for us with money that belongs to them. They call themselves "liberals". But we free Americans still try to fight them off. Paternalism if a failure and calling it liberals does not help.

I do not believe or at least I hope that all liberal share the views of the crazies on YAHOO. If I were to judge liberals by their answers & questions here - I would say deport them! But that's not true I have friends & customers that are liberals & we can discuss political views without any form of bashing at all. So don't judge all liberals by this site - that's not fair, even to a liberal!

Liberals embody everything evil in this world. (pot, LSD, Ecstasy, etc.) They do not follow their own word and, as exhibited by the Clinton's, have a tendency to break the law.

It hasn't. It's looked at that way by people who can't help but be negative about everything that they disagree with. But being a liberal is a great thing.

Karl Rove, Sean Hannity, and Rush Limbaugh spew out false rhetoric and people unfortunately believe it. What that says about those who believe them is another story. Liberal is not a bad thing. Not as bad as Conservative. Certainly no worse.

When Rush came to prominence, he rode the wave of discontent from the middle class who saw the left as an enemy, and helped it gain in strength and power. Later the religious right joined in. A marriage made - somewhere....
