I have seen this telescope here at

http://www.scopesnskies.com/prod/bresser/starter-scope/skylux/mars-explorer/70.html

I was just wondering if anyone had it, and could verify that it was any good.

I am hoping to be able to see what it says in the description... Can anyone confirm that the specs are atually good enough to let me see those objects?

Also, if anyone could point me in the direction of a telescope for under £100 that is better, please say!

Thanks.

Based in the information in the link you gave it looks like a pretty good beginner telescope at a reasonable price to me, although I am not familiar with that particular one. It is definitely capable of showing you all the things described at the bottom of the page, especially the Moon and Saturn, although you will probably be disappointed at Mars. Visually, Mars looks extremely small and washed out compared to most pictures you have seen. Saturn and Jupiter will look small too but you will see more interesting detail on those planets compared to Mars. There is no real way to judge optical quality except by actually looking through it though.

I'm not familiar with the brand name but the scope appears to be of good quality with decent peripheral equipment like the finder scope and metal tripod. The books that come with it sound useful as does the planetarium software which few telescopes come with. I also like the fact that it can be upgraded with useful add-ons such as the Barlow and motor drive.

As for seeing what it says you can see, yes, even in light polluted cities you can easily see detail on the moon and planets. I have an 8" scope and use between 50x to 100x to view the moon and 100x to 200x to view the planets. At this time Mars is too far away to see any detail even in large scopes but you should be able to see the detail talked about in the description of the other objects. And Mars will eventually be back in conjunction with the earth and then you should easily be able to see some detail and the polar cap.

All-in-all, it looks like a great deal for a beginning amateur observer to buy.

Yeah, I come right here for questions approximately Wicca because of the fact the solutions are frequently greater clever than faith and spirituality. I even have been analyzing Wicca for quite a few months now so i'm no longer a Wiccan yet yet i'm hoping you do no longer thoughts me answering your question. the finished moon is properly finished for below a pair of million minute, even nevertheless it seems finished for variety of three days. i does no longer assume actual anybody could be waiting to be thoroughly waiting and finished the ritual interior the minute. i could say it replaced into greater versatile. additionally, a ritual interior the moonlight could in all hazard be better for an entire moon ritual. It provides something to look at and get excitement from, if no longer you will could desire to think of the moon it rather is plenty greater durable. i would be unable to assert I even have developed a sturdy connection with the goddess yet, i'm nevertheless engaged on it. yet people consistently tell me "the goddess has a humorousness", "she will no longer punish you for no longer being ideal". i could say, once you spot the finished moon and it feels like the the appropriate option time, it rather is the time for the ritual. i do no longer think of it fairly is disrespectful in any respect. better of success :) And in the previous I observed the moon surrounded by skill of clouds and it regarded perfect, i'm valuable you may desire to have a marvelous ritual :)

this is a fine beginners model. it will do every thing as stated. the mount ( equatorial ) you will like. The only thing that I didn't like about mine was the refractor part. lenses of this type are better for viewing closer objects . when you want to start looking further out, you will want to use a reflector type of telescope. less lens distortion and bigger object mirror allows for much better viewing. depending on what you wish to do with it. its fine. I recently let my grand children have mine. have fun in your future viewing endeavors

I did that for my grand daughter and was disappointed . They live in the edge of a large city and the street light blind the telescope so that we could see very little.

I've never used one, but I've read good reviews. Do shop around - Lidls have been selling them for less than £50! Expect to replace the eyepieces though - they're not so good.
