Yes, if you have not messed with the drive too much after you formatted it. You can download this program called Recover My files. I helped a lady on here last week with a similar problem, only in her case, they re-installed the image disks and all of her pictures were gone from C:/ Drive. Once she downloaded the trial version, it showed that she had about 3,000 files that it had found, then she contacted me and asked if I thought that she should get the program. She did, and she said that it was worth the $70 it cost for the program. That is the best program that I know of for such a problem, it will even work on a Iomega Zip Disk.

Depending on how much it is worth to you, there are places that can recover data even after a drive has been formatted.
Most charge a lot of money to do so - but if your data is important enough to you, then it might be worth it. Check your local yellow pages for data recovery specialists. There are places that can recover data even from a hard drive that has failed, or a lot of times they are getting evidence from a drive that someone thought they could just format and make all the kiddie porn or whatever go away.

Actually, yes you can. Unfortunately, you'll have to pauy either for software or someoen that knows how to recover. Here's some links;
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=data+recovery
For all those that answered, no, a format only erases the address table. Format erases bookeeping of the drive, tests the sectors and prepares the the drive for load.
This of course is assuming you only did a regular (high) format and not a low level format. If you performed a low level format, you're out of luck.

Yes there is a way but it will cost you tons of money. If its not worth the trouble, then its your lost. There's tons of companies that will do this for you. Search for "data recovery"

Your only chance is this software, PC File Inspector. You can get it at;
http://www.goitexpert.com/en/index.cfm/2007/2/26/Recover-Deleted-Files-Easily-with-this-Free-Utility
I've never tried it with a formatted drive though, so I can't guarantee it will work. There are screenshots describing how to use it.....
Good Luck.

Go to google and type in "programs to recover information from a formatted hard drive" and go from there. I see a program called Search and Recover 4 and it costs $24.95. Next time you might want to keep a back up your data from time to time.

wait, after you format, there is still a small trace left but its hard to put all the fragments together and recover the files.
happend to my firend, cost him 200$ to get his files back and it took 2 weeks. But for him it was a big problem becuz he had his companys files in it. I dont know if your willing to spend 200$ or even more on recovery..
anyways good luck
