ive tried several evenrude sites with no luck...all i have is the serial and model numbers

The model year is derived from the 7th and 8th digits of the model number. Johnson/Evinrude has used a system since 1980 that uses the word INTRODUCES to decipher model year. The letter I is the number 1, N is the number 2, S is 0 etc. So if the 7th and 8th digits are, for example, EN it would be a 1992 model. Check out the link below for further info.
