They have a back up. They got that power back last year and darn his name escapes me. If anything maybe they look at the O line and probably get Defense, depending on how Tomlin wants to do it. If he wants them to be able to at least run the 4-3(not switch to it neccessarly but at least play it some) then he may want some defenders he can plug in for it.
Hey Eric if you knew much you would have seen he WORKS AT UPMC. As in he is a DOCTOR outside TEAM CAPACITY. As in you have NO PROOF he was buying the HGH for the players and he said he would NEVER do that. Chances are he was buying him for his patients in a LEGITIMATE manner. Oh wait Haters just HATE. They don't bother to learn the FULL story.

I feel like the perfect person for the Steelers to get, if he is still available in the 2nd round, would be Brian Leonard of Rutgers. He lined up at any skill position asked of him at Rutgers and never complained. He can serve as a bruising running back, lead block as a fullback, catch passes from out of the backfield, line up in a 2 TE set with Heath Miller, or even split wide. He might not last until the Steelers pick in the 2nd round, but if he is there, that would be a fantastic pickup in my opinion.
I think their draft choice will depend a lot on what they decide to do with Joey Porter. He is due a roster bonus within the next week or so, which the Steelers dont want to pay. If he renegotiates his contract and sticks around, I would imagine the Steelers would draft a DB with the 15th pick. If he doesnt, they could go for a DE/LB. Personally I think with the talent at WR in this draft, they would be wise to pick up one of the higher rated receivers to line up in the slot along with Hines and Holmes. I dont know if Ced Wilson or Nate Washington are ideal slot guys. Dwayne Jarrett would look nice in black and gold.
If worse comes to worse, I've also heard TJ Duckett's name thrown around as a guy the Steelers are looking at picking up. That wouldnt be bad, but I dont know if they have the cap room to do it. Sgt - you are thinking of Najeh Davenport. He is an unrestricted free agent also, so they may be able to bring him back, if thats what they want to do. They also have Verron Haynes coming back off an injury. I just dont know if they see either one of those guys being the big bruising back. Good points on the physician though!! Should be interesting!

We need a big back, that's for sure. Willie is good, but only in open field. He's not big enough to get through D-lines, but when he's given room, he's gone. However, I don't think we'll go for a big back in the first round. I was hoping we'd get LenDale White last season, but he was gone by the time we got to pick. He was known for being similar to Bettis, something our offense had grown accustomed to. Anyways, I'd like a big back, but at the same time we need improvements on our O-line as well. It's kind of a weird draft year for us, because there's not really ONE SPECIFIC position that we need to improve on. In the end, though, I think they'll go for a DE in the first round.

i think they have more important holes to fill than getting a backup RB, most importantly at the CB and OLB positions...they need a guy who can lock down a big-time receiver, they are so depleted at the position it's not even funny...and now with the release of joey porter, they will need someone to be a top-flight pass rusher...yes they should get a bigger back to spell parker but they can wait and fill their more important needs

Willie Parker is better than serviceable, he is good. They need someone to pressure the QB, they need a DE.

I think they will pick a either a pass rusher or a shutdown cornerback with their first pick. If Michael Bush from Louisville is available, they may take him. But Jamal Lewis is on the market now, wouldn't that be awesome. Lewis pounding it up the middle and Parker running to the outside. Can you say unstoppable?

You need more defense if you want to keep up with the Ravens.
