I guess I should have given more details. He said he doesn't know how long the break will last, 2 days or 2 months. This was this morning and he has called since then. We have been seeing each other for only 3 months but have been together almost every night during that time. He says he truly cares about me that he missed me. Talk about confusion!

i think he just wants his own space to do his own stuff, he might have gotten sick of seeing you every single day, maybe he's just not used to it. You should ask him about that and try to work something out

Well, there you have it. That was the problem: you went in too fast. The first couple months you should probably keep the dates (and sleepovers) down to about once a week. Then maybe twice a week for the next 3-4 months.
In this way, you have time to process everything and ease into the relationship and not let your emotions run you into a brick wall.
These whirlwind romances almost never turn out well. Too much, too fast, and somebody winds up gasping for air.

Just give him a break...don't mope around..Go out with the girls...have some fun..Show him your not waiting around! Good Luck! And I am sure he will miss you...
