Cotton, tobacco and corn. Those were the primary cash crops in the southern states.

N.B. The previous answer is more correct. There are no slaves in the USA, but I assume you wanted an answer about crops cultivated prior to the Civil War and emancipation of the slaves.

Cotton, sugar cane and tobacco WERE farmed by slaves. The only place I know where slavery still exists is in Africa - curiously - considering the furore about apologising in recent weeks.
