I just planted a double impatient plant in my garden . I have a shady spot (gets light in the evening hours say from 3 to 5pm) under the stairs where I planted this.when i got this plant i picked this particular one with healthy leaves and lots of buds. However The buds keep falling off the plant everyday. The leaves are still green and healthy however Iam worried that the plant will die. What can I do about it.Have I done something wrong.

it may be a little transplant shock. don't worry, just keep it watered and fed. Should be OK once it acclimates.

We grow impatient plants from seed. They love shade. They do not like overwatering. Also, some of the blooms will fall off as the plant grows new bloom buds. Also remember impatients do not like fertilizers with a high nitrogen content. I use MiracleGro Blossom Booster. You don't say what the night time temperatures are in your area. Impatients like cool night time temps around 60-65 degrees F.

In SoCal it is still in the 40s at night. That is too cold for Impatients. As long as we don't have another frost, your plant will be fine. Just wait until warmer weather and the flowers will return.

Please everybody be patient and wait to buy those Impatiens and tomatoes until mid March. Just because the plants are in the nursery, doen't mean it's okay to plant them. Don't waste your money.

Rats! the same thing happened to mine!!!
I found out she got too cold. I brought it in the house. shook off the dirt and soaked her roots in water by my kitchen window until new roots came out. by then it was warm enough to put back outside but I always put a big jar over her on cold nights after that.
They also make big beautiful house plants. I grew one 2.5 feet high and around lol and when I moved from Wi . I got 75 dollars for it! good luck! (ps\
it might be too shady where you have her.she likes it a bit sunnier
just not too hot)
