Not monitors. Desktops. Tried the control center options for appearance and themes and didnt find anything.

Sorry, you have one desktop. You can change icons, wallpaper, screen savers, etc., and in XP you can change the view from Classic to the XP-styled view. But you are still only going to have one desktop.

Yes you can. It's a free tool from Microsoft. See link.

It's called 'Virtual Desktop Manager' and the download link is on the righthand side towards the bottom.

No not on Xp.
You may be able to download a program (doubt for free) but the easiest thing would be to create multiple accounts

I don't think so.
This option is available of any linux distributions such as ubuntu,fedora,debian,suse,...
