I have a few questions about Millsberry. I am kind of new to the site, and I want to know a little more about its pastime.
When were these items given away or sold and for what??

Svendi Reading Unit
Lava Lamps
Holiday Sleigh Bed
Pink Furry Winter Boots (why are they so expensive in yardsales?)
Fangy Sue
Floating Ghost
Broken Mirror
Candy Cane chair
Gumball Machines
Elephant Statues
Pipe Organ
Pumpkin Balloon
and The Rubber Ball with stars

and why are these all so valuable?

WOW! Lots of questions! I'll do my best to answer all of them.

The Svendi reading unit was given away from the bookstore with the purchase of 10 books in February of 2006. You can read about the promotion here http://www.millsberry.com/town_hall/historical_society.phtml?v=headlines&date=20060209 Many residents did not take advantage of this thus the svendi units became rare almost immediately. And in millsberry Rare=Expensive

Lava Lamps were sold in the furniture store for a few weeks during the summer of 2005. Most citizens did not realize that they were a 'limited time' item and did not purchase in large quantities, thus they are hard to find and expensive.

The Holiday Sleigh Bed was available during Christmas of 2004 ONLY. It has never been made available since. There were very few residents on Millsberry at the time and Yard Sales were not yet a part of millsberry so there was no 'stocking up' on items with the intent of selling them later.

Pink Furry Winter Boots. This is another item that dates back to Millsberry's first year. These were in the clothing store in late 2004/early 2005. Again, there were not many residents on millsberry at the time and Yard Sales were not yet an option so people tended to not purchase items in great multiples, particularly clothing items since our buddies can wear only one of a clothing item at a time.

Fangy Sue was one of the items that was given as a reward when millsberry residents turned in their trick or treat bags during the halloween event of 2006. You can read about the event here.
http://www.millsberry.com/town_hall/historical_society.phtml?v=headlines&date=20061019 http://www.millsberry.com/town_hall/historical_society.phtml?v=headlines&date=20061026 http://www.millsberry.com/town_hall/historical_society.phtml?v=headlines&date=20061102
Because this is a 'promotional item (giveaway) they tend to be more expensive since each resident can receive only one.

The floaty ghost, likewise, was an item that was given as a prize when Millsberry residents turned in their trick or treat bags after the 2005 Halloween event. You can read about the event here:
http://www.millsberry.com/town_hall/historical_society.phtml?v=headlines&date=20051027
The floaty ghost was given to residents who had trick or treated until their bag was full to 'gold level' meaning that they received the gold trophy and since not all residents trick or treated to that level it became rare almost immediately.

The Broken Mirror was sold in stores during Halloween of 2005 but at the time the Millsberry stores were experiencing a glitch that caused items to go out of stock and remain out of stock for several hours. The halloween items were, resultingly, hard to obtain and thus immediately sold for well beyond the store value because millsberry residents were anxious to get their hands on the new halloween items. In addition, the broken mirrors are an item that can serve many purposes when decorating one's home and are highly coveted.

The Candy Cane Chair, like the Holiday Sleigh Bed, was sold only during Christmas of 2004, before Yard Sales were an option. So many residents bought only what they needed to decorate their own homes and nothing additional.

The Gumball Machine and the Elephant Statue were both from the White Elephant event of Christmas, 2005. You can read about the event here http://www.millsberry.com/town_hall/historical_society.phtml?v=headlines&date=20051208
Residents were encouraged to make donations to the Community Center. One per week when they made a donation to the community center residents could get a ticket that allowed them to participate in the White Elephant gift exchange. Residents were given one gift initially and were allowed to 'exchange' that gift up to 3 times. Among the gifts that were given during the event were the Gumball Machine and the Elephant Statue.

The Pipe Organ was a gift given by Red Lion Manor during the Halloween events of 2006. While they trick or treated around Millsberry residents could visit Red Lion Manor. Depending on how full your bag was at the time of your visit you received a different prize. Residents could visit the manor multiple times and receive multiple prizes. The prizes (in order) were:

Monster Chair
Coat Rack
Wrought Iron Fence
Red Lion Manor Dollhouse
Pipe Organ
Red Lion Manor Statue

You had to visit specific numbers of houses to qualify for each prize.

Pumpkin Balloon - this was one of the prizes given when residents turned in their trick or treat bags during the Trick or Treat event of 2006 (see articles posted with the Fandy Sue explanation)

The rubber ball with stars is also a trick or treat prize that is given out when residents turned in their bags following the trick or treat events of 2004, 2005 and 2006. It is a 'promotional' item and is accordingly rare as residents can get only one during the event.

The majority of the items about which you asked were promotional items (giveaways) and those that weren't were only in the stores for a short while. Because of this they are rare and the prices reflect that.

The Svendi Reading Unit was given out at the bookstore if you bought ten books. I bought ten books, and I'm glad I did. The price ranges. It's very expensive, like in the millions.

The lava lamps.... I believe they were given out in 2005, I just don't know what event. They are in the 100,000's or millions.

The Holiday Sleigh Bed was sold at the furniture store in 2004. They are rare because not a lot of people were on Millsberry at that time. They range from millions to 9,999,999.

The pink furry winter boots were given out in 2005 for the winter inventory. They're expensive because not a lot of people were on Millsberry at the time. The starting price is in the millions.

Fangy Sue was given out at the 2006 Trick-Or-Treat Extravaganza. People went door-to-door collecting candy, and it was either the Community Center that gave them out or Red Lion Manor. I believe it was Red Lion Manor They are sold in the millions.

The floating ghost was in the 2004 or 2005 Trick-Or-Treating Extravaganza. Not many people have them. The starting price is in the millions.

The broken mirror was also in the 2004 or 2005 Trick-Or-Treating Extravaganza. Not many people have them. They start in the millions.

The candy cane chair was sold at the furniture store in 2004 or 2005. They're very rare. They start in the millions.

The gumball machines were given out in 2005 for an event. I don't know the event, but I have one. They start in the millions.

They elephant statues were given out in the 2005 or 2006 Winter Gift Exchange. I have one at my house, and it's cool. I believe the other prize was a barbell. They are kind've cheap, the lowest price 5,000 millsbucks. That's how much I bought mine for.

The pipe organ was given out in the 2006 Halloween TOT Extravaganza. They were given out by Red Lion Manor. They start at 1,000,000.

The pumpkin balloon was also given out at the 2006 Halloween TOT Extravaganza. Their starting price is in the millions.

And the rubber ball with stars. That was given out in 2004 with your Halloween Goody Bag. They start in the millions.

HOPE I HELPED!!
