not uncommon. You are right to not want to flood your ears with water..it's a natural instinct. We don't live in water so naturally it tends to bother some people. However, if you believe in evolution you can understand the importance of water to your development. It's more of a mental block for you know. I would agree with the rest of the answers and get some earplugs that are secure, spend top dollar for them. You will be surprised how comfortable you feel with them underwater. Then who knows maybe you can work your way up to taking them out.
Have fun and remember its only water.

Well, considering I swim blind underwater, there always a good chance that water will get into your ears. There is nothing to fear, however, because you will not be deaf with water in your ears. When you get water in your ears, you need to tilt your head to pour the water from your ears (it won't hurt to use your thumb or finger to force air into your ear to move some of the wax out of the way as you are spilling the water) until it is out. It is also a good idea to use ear plugs (made for swimming) in tight, to keep the water out.

If your ears are in good shape-IE have never been ruptured -Then dive right in-I have been a swimmer all my life-as well as a scuba diver-yes water will get in your outer ear canal-when you leave the water simply cock your head to the side and jump a little-any remaining water will come out.
Per the answers above-I am in agreement that -at least initially -use ear plugs to overcome your fear of being under water-eventually try it with out ear plugs.
Again-unless you have a ruptured ear drum some time in your life-water will not enter into your head

well you cant go deaf by getting water in your ears
even if you get water in your ears is will eventually dry up and you will be fine
look and all the swimmers and surfers in the world none of them have gone deaf because of water in the ears
and if your so scared why dont you just wear earplug when your swimming to keep the water out

Ok, they are prey animals so they are most comfortable in places where they can hide, the tunnel is good (red circle) but you need more little places she can curl up and hide in. You can get a smallish box and cut a hole in it for a door. You can get more tube/tunnels at the pet store or at home depot (doesn't have to be a pet thing as long as it likes it). You don't need to leave a "door" open, she can jump over that box. You need to get her a water bottle that hangs upside down with a little ball in it. These are what they drink from. She's probably thirsty, you should get one right away. They need to have hay all the time, Timothy hay is best. Get this at petstore or feed store. No, they don't attract bugs and if you keep her in the house she is unlikely to catch any illness that you can get but she does need vitamin c or she will get scurvy. If you give her plenty of veggies, she will get all the vitamin c she needs. give her lettuce (not iceberg) carrots, cucumber, parsley and cilantro. I feed mine veggies twice a day. If she doesn't eat all her pellets, dump the old ones out and give her fresh, she wont eat them after they are out for a while, but give her less next time so you aren't wasting what she wont eat. She will get used to you. The best thing to do for that is to sit on the floor when you are putting the veggies out. Sit there with the bags and put the veggies or food out and she will learn the noise of the bags, she will come to see and eventually she will start crawling on you while you are getting her food out. For the first time, sit on the floor and call her name and give her a little carrot, keep trying and be patient while she takes this from you hand. While she's eating that put the lettuce and stuff out. They are always afraid of being chased or picked up from the top. Its always best to talk to her, tell her you are going to pick her up and then put your hands where she can see them. then scoop her up so that you have all her feet and her belly so she feels safe but make sure she cant jump out of your hands. they cant tell how far they are from the floor and they will jump and hurt themselves. Get her some little toys too. Tunnels, toilet paper rolls (empty) cat balls (leave tags on so they can grab) bird toys with the little bells. but go get her water bottle and hay and veggies... Good luck She is REALLY CUTE

yes i did have a problem just like you but if you were ear plugs you should be fine. Just try them in the shower and stuff first then work up to like a sink just dunk your head in. After that you should be fine in a pool. That's what i did and it worked out good.

yh when i flip round in the water like do a summersault i get water in my ears but it usually cones out after a few minutes but once it happneed to me and it didnt go for like 2DAYS so you were lucky that it was only a day. if you dont want water in your ears get ear plugs that you can wear when swimming and dont worry if you get water in your ears the doctor will be able to get it out if it stays in your ear for tooo long. so still keep swimming! ;)
